Trajectory
Weverton Rocha is a senator of the Republic, elected in 2018 with almost two million votes.
Weverton Rocha is the son of an evangelical teacher and an agricultural technician. From an early age, he showed concern about the reality of Maranhão. He began his career in the student movement, met Jackson Lago, and at age 16 joined the PDT, the only party he has ever been a part of.
He graduated in Business Administration from Faculdade São Luís, served as the state secretary of Sports and Youth in Jackson Lago's government, and remained by Jackson's side when he was impeached.
Weverton was elected federal deputy as an alternate in 2010 and definitively assumed a seat in the House of Representatives in 2012, where he remained until 2018. In the House of Representatives, he was the leader of the PDT caucus in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, Weverton was the leader of the Minority, a caucus formed by the opposition parties PDT, PSB, PT, PCdoB, and PSOL.
