Soraya Thronicke

Soraya is a Brazilian politician who was born in Dourados and raised in Campo Grande. She became known for her involvement in street movements since 2013 and for lawsuits filed against politicians and companies.

Soraya holds a law degree and postgraduate qualifications in Tax Law and Family and Inheritance Law. She worked as a lawyer at the firm Cabral Gomes e Thronicke Advogados Associados.

Political Career

In 2018, Soraya Thronicke was elected senator for Mato Grosso do Sul with 373,712 votes. Her election was boosted by the influence of President Jair Bolsonaro, as she supported one of the president's main policies: the defense of gun ownership. Furthermore, she also advocates for stricter criminal laws and the fight against corruption and violence in Brazil.

Soraya Thronicke also self-identifies as a defender of the right to private property, having been vice-president of the Parliamentary Front for the Free Market. In February 2019, she was elected president of the Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Commission (CRA) in the Senate, a position she held until 2021.

Presidency of the Republic

In 2022, Soraya ran for President of the Republic, receiving 600,955 votes in the first round.
