Silvia Cristina

Silvia Cristina Amancio Chagas was born on January 15, 1974 , in Linhares (ES) . She is a journalist and teacher in the state education system and initially built her professional career in communication and education before entering politics. She moved to Rondônia , where she became an active and historic public figure as the first black woman elected to the Federal House of Representatives for the state . Before reaching the House of Representatives, she served two terms as a city councilor in Ji-Paraná , being the most voted in the history of the municipality, which consolidated her local political base.

Political Career

She began her parliamentary career by being elected federal deputy for Rondônia in 2018 , assuming her first term on February 1, 2019 , and was re-elected for the 2023–2027 term , almost doubling her vote in 2022 during her second term. Over the years, she has been a member of various parliamentary groups and blocs, having served as vice-leader of parliamentary blocs and the Minority group in Congress , in addition to moving between parties such as PDT, PL and, more recently in 2024, Progressistas (PP) . Her trajectory is marked by the defense of public policies focused on health, education, social inclusion and racial equality , gaining state and national recognition in these areas.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In the National Congress , Silvia Cristina has approximately 299 proposals of her own authorship and 64 reported on up to the year 2025, demonstrating great legislative productivity. She is a member of committees such as the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development and has served as vice-president of the Health Committee of the House of Representatives , in addition to being elected rapporteur of the Special Committee to Combat Cancer in Brazil . She was also sworn in as 2nd vice-president of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2025 , reinforcing her work on inclusion issues. Among the bills she has authored are, for example, Bill No. 5116/2025 (expands mammograms to all women), Bill No. 2891/2024 (provides for care for premature babies), and other proposals focused on health, inclusion and strengthening public policies in the social and educational areas.
