Sergio Souza

Sérgio de Souza is a Brazilian politician, lawyer, and federal deputy for Paraná (MDB-PR) , born on March 13, 1971, in Ivaiporã (PR) . A law graduate specializing in electoral law, he began his political career as an alternate senator and reached the Federal Senate in 2011, remaining in office until 2014 before moving to the House of Representatives.

Political Career

In his political career , Sérgio Souza was elected federal deputy in 2014 and is currently serving his third consecutive term in the House of Representatives (2015-2019, 2019-2023, and 2023-2027), representing Paraná for the MDB party . He has held various party leadership positions, including periods as vice-leader of the MDB and of expanded blocs , in addition to being a member of the Board of Directors of the House of Representatives as 4th secretary in the current legislature. In 2025, he was elected state president of the MDB in Paraná , reinforcing his leading role in local politics and party coordination for the 2026 elections.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In the National Congress , Sérgio Souza has a continuous legislative activity, with dozens of registered proposals, 77 of which were authored by him in 2025 , according to the House of Representatives's website. Among the bills presented are PL 2298/2024 , which grants the municipality of Toledo (PR) the title of National Capital of Animal Protein ; PL 1526/2022 , which amends provisions of the Statute of the Bar and the OAB ; PL 3162/2024 , which amends Law No. 5,768/1971 to allow awards in the form of shares in cooperatives and other financial products; PL 2701/2022 , which inserts provisions in Law No. 6,259/1975 to regulate the nomenclature of transmissible diseases; and other proposals such as Bill 629/2022 (cohesion of private areas in national parks) and Bill 138/2022 , which deals with the reversal of ICMS credits in agricultural operations. These initiatives reflect its work in regional development, agriculture, cooperativism, economic regulation and professional issues .
