Trajectory
A native of Rio Branco, Sérgio Petecão's life was marked by personal difficulties in his youth, which influenced his political discourse focused on defending social issues, public safety, and protecting the most vulnerable segments of the Acrean population.
He began his political career as a state representative, being elected for three consecutive terms. During this period, he became president of the Legislative Assembly of Acre, consolidating himself as a local leader. In 2006, he was elected federal deputy. In 2010, he won the race for the Federal Senate, a position he has held since 2011. He also ran for state governor, unsuccessfully.
His parliamentary work is marked by a pragmatic profile focused on dialogue. Although he served as deputy leader of the Bolsonaro government, Petecão demonstrated a willingness for institutional negotiations with the Lula government. In the Senate, he works on issues related to public security, regional development, and social policies, maintaining a strong political presence in Acre.
