Rogério Correia de Moura Baptista is a politician and university professor born on January 11, 1958, in Belo Horizonte (MG) . He began his career as an educator and union leader, being one of the founders of the Unified Union of Education Workers of Minas Gerais (Sind-UTE) and the PT in Minas Gerais , with a strong presence in social movements and the defense of public education. Before assuming federal office, he was also a city councilor in Belo Horizonte and a state representative for Minas Gerais in several legislatures.
In his political career , Rogério Correia was elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais in 2018 and re-elected in 2022 , serving the terms 2019-2023 and 2023-2027 in the House of Representatives for the PT-MG (PT-PCdoB-PV Federation) . Throughout his parliamentary career, he held positions as vice-leader of the PT and vice-leader of the Government (until May 2025) and, in 2025, was elected president of the House of Representatives's Finance and Taxation Committee , a strategic position for setting the agenda on budgetary and fiscal issues. In the House of Representatives, he also served on committees such as Finance and Taxation (as a member and president), Labor, Administration and Public Service, Education, and others throughout the legislature.
In the National Congress , Rogério Correia has an extensive legislative career, with hundreds of proposals authored by him and multiple reports on the House of Representatives's website in 2025. Among the bills he recently presented are PL 5210/2025 , which includes rural community schools as beneficiaries of PNATE and PNAE (school transportation and meals); PL 5209/2025 , which amends the Improbity Law to hold public officials accountable for failing to ensure the minimum wage for teachers ; PL 4167/2025 , which establishes the National Program for the Development of Handicraft Production Associated with Tourism (Pró-Artesão) ; and, in previous legislatures, PL 3298/2023 , which proposed measures to combat racism in sports stadiums. Other initiatives he authored include projects on social rights, public education, and fiscal transparency. Furthermore, as president of the Finance and Taxation Committee , he was the rapporteur for Bill 04/2024 (creation of positions in the Electoral Court) and has actively participated in agendas related to public budget, democracy, and institutional strengthening.
