Trajectory
Rodrigo Santana Valadares is a Brazilian businessman and politician whose career has been marked by involvement in both the public and private spheres. His foray into politics solidified in 2018 when he was elected state deputy in Sergipe for the PTB party, winning 15,221 votes. Furthermore, his experience includes working as an advisor to the Ministry of Mines and Energy during the Michel Temer administration.
With a background in Law, Rodrigo comes from a family with a political history, being the son of Public Prosecutor Simone Valadares and former federal deputy Pedrinho Valadares. This family context also extends to his brother, Fábio Valadares, contributing to a broad understanding of the political and administrative landscape.
His professional career included a stint in the Pernambuco state government, working in the department responsible for attracting industries and investments to the state, especially in the Port of Suape. However, this period was marked by the tragic plane crash that killed his father, Pedrinho Valadares, and the then-governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, in 2014.
Later, Rodrigo Valadares assumed the state presidency of the PTB in Sergipe, contributing to the coordination of the party's activities in the region. In addition, he served as an advisor to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Fernando Bezerra Filho, in Brasília, in 2017.
He was elected state representative in 2018 with 15,221 votes , representing the PTB party. In 2022, he ran for federal representative and was elected with 49,600 votes.
As a member of parliament, throughout 2023 he stood out in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on January 8th, where he took a critical stance towards the federal government's actions in the events that led to the invasion of the National Congress. He worked to obstruct the vote on the bill that would legalize abortion up to the third trimester of pregnancy, and was also critical of the Brazilian government's rapprochement with regimes considered undemocratic, such as Venezuela.
