Trajectory

Ricardo Ayres is a Brazilian politician with a career marked by different positions and roles in the political landscape of Tocantins. His political career began with leadership in student movements in Palmas, and later he was appointed State Secretary of Youth in 2009. He also held the position of Municipal Secretary of Urban Development and Land Regularization of Palmas/TO. In 2022, he was appointed Extraordinary Secretary of Public-Private Partnerships of the state by Governor Wanderlei Barbosa (Republicans).

He is currently a federal congressman and was a pre-candidate for mayor of Palmas in the 2024 elections.

Political Career

His elected political career began in 2010 when he ran for state representative, but he only achieved success in the 2014 elections, being re-elected in 2018.

In the Legislative Assembly of Tocantins, he played important roles, including chairing the Constitution and Justice Committee, and participating as a member of the Mines, Energy, Environment and Tourism Committee, as well as the special committees on Land Regularization, Studies of State Parks, and Forest Policy and Legislation. He also served on the Permanent Committee for Monitoring and Studies of Public Policies for Youth.

In 2022, he ran for the position of federal deputy and received support from the former mayor of Palmas, Raul Filho, state deputies Claudia Lélis and Cleiton Cardoso, as well as the regional president of the Green Party (PV), Marcelo Lélis. He was elected federal deputy with 45,880 votes.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In 2023, he was elected deputy leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives. Throughout the year, he proposed 591 initiatives, including bills, motions, and requests. He was one of the 30 federal deputies with 100% attendance at plenary sessions that year . In the Education Committee, he obtained approval for important reports, such as the one guaranteeing night-time high school education in municipalities .
