Ossesio José da Silva, known politically as Ossesio Silva , was born on December 9, 1954, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and is a bishop of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. Before definitively entering politics, he built a long career as a religious leader and in social work focused on community causes in Pernambuco, the state where he settled and where he boosted his public career.
His political career began in the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco , where he served as a city councilor and state representative for two terms before being elected federal deputy for the state of Pernambuco in 2018 by the Republicanos party (formerly PRB) , serving from 2019 to 2023. In the 2022 elections, he failed to win direct re-election, but remained as first alternate and resumed his mandate as federal deputy on September 13, 2023, after the appointment of another parliamentarian to the Ministry, returning to his position in the 2023-2027 legislature .
In the National Congress , Ossesio Silva serves as an acting substitute federal deputy , being a full member of committees such as the Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Committee for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly , in addition to being part of the Black Caucus of the House of Representatives . According to the House of Representatives's official website, he has authored 383 proposals and is the rapporteur for 127 in the current legislature (data from 2025). Among the projects presented are bills such as PL 910/2025 (creation of Intergenerational Community Centers), PL 911/2025 (special retirement for professional athletes), PL 1819/2024 (reservation of vacancies in public competitions for people aged 60+), PL 3775/2025 (social electricity tariff for low-income seniors), and PL 912/2025 (creation of Local Food Banks), among others focused on social protection, the elderly, and inclusion.
