Olival Henrique Marques de Souza was born on January 9, 1982, in Belém, Pará, and before definitively entering politics, he graduated in theology, having also been active in religious and community activities in his region of origin. Affiliated with the MDB since 2022, Olival Marques began his political career at the state level before achieving national prominence as a federal parliamentarian.
He was elected federal deputy for the state of Pará for the 2019–2023 legislature and re-elected for the 2023–2027 term in the House of Representatives , representing the MDB. Before that, he served as a state deputy in Pará between 2015 and 2018 for the PSC, and throughout his party career he also held vice-leader positions within parliamentary blocs, including at the beginning of his federal career while still affiliated with the DEM.
In Congress, Olival Marques has parliamentary activity with participation in several committees, being a full member of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJC) and an alternate member in others such as the Finance and Taxation Committee (CFT) , in addition to being part of special committees such as the National Education Plan 2024-2034 (PL 2614/24) . He also served as deputy leader of party blocs and, according to House of Representatives data, registered dozens of authored proposals and several reports throughout his tenure in the current legislature, including projects such as PL 3790/2023 (amends the Law on Heinous Crimes to include crimes in religious temples), PL 4307/2023 (on voluntary termination of pregnancy), PL 4546/2023 (on teaching gender-related content), and PL 5053/2023 (on reducing working hours for caregivers of children with ASD), among other registered legislative initiatives.
