Trajectory
Nelsinho Trad holds a degree in Medicine, specializing in General Surgery, Urology, Occupational Medicine, and Public Health, from Gama Filho University in Rio de Janeiro. His medical training provides him with knowledge and experience in the healthcare field.
In the political sphere, Nelsinho Trad began his career as deputy director of Previsul (the Social Security Institute of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul) during the government of Pedro Pedrossian. Affiliated with the Brazilian Labour Party (PTB), he was a city councilor for Campo Grande in 1992, being re-elected in 1996 and 2000. During his term as councilor, he presided over the City Council.
In 2002, he was elected state deputy and later transferred from the PTB to the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB). In 2004, he ran for and won the election for mayor of Campo Grande, being re-elected in 2008. In 2014, he ran for governor of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul with the support of then-governor André Puccinelli.
In 2018, once again affiliated with the PTB, Nelsinho Trad was elected senator for Mato Grosso do Sul with 424,085 votes. In 2019, he transferred to the Social Democratic Party (PSD).
Acknowledgements
Nelsinho Trad received the Parliamentary Excellence Award in 2023 from the Ranking of Politicians , with a score of 7.3 points, making him the 4th best parliamentarian in Mato Grosso do Sul and 88th in the overall ranking.
