Trajectory

Nelson Ned Previdente, known as Nelson Barbudo, was born on February 14, 1960, in Poloni (SP) and is a farmer by training, having migrated to Mato Grosso where he became involved in rural activities before entering politics. He began his public career as a city councilor in Alto Taquari (MT) in 2004 , being strongly connected to the issues of the countryside and agribusiness. His life experience in the rural environment strongly influenced his political profile and his priorities as a representative of the Brazilian interior in the federal scenario.

Political Career

Barbudo was elected federal deputy for Mato Grosso in 2018 by the PSL party , being the most voted candidate in the state's delegation in that election, and served from 2019 to 2023. In the 2022 elections, he became the first alternate for the PL party , returning to the House of Representatives on May 21, 2024, after the death of Deputy Amália Barros, resuming his seat for the 2023–2027 term. Over time, he held leadership positions as vice-leader in different blocs and within the PSL/PL coalition , demonstrating articulation within the conservative blocs of the House.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In Congress, Barbudo has been strongly involved in defending agribusiness , serving as a full member of the Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Supply Committee and holding leadership positions in the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA) , reinforcing his commitment to the sector he represents. According to official data, in 2025 he presented approximately 165 proposals of his own authorship and had 9 reports registered in the House of Representatives, participating in votes and debates on topics such as legal security in the countryside, rules for graffiti (Bill No. 2696/2025), changes to laws on higher education (Bill No. 3812/2024), prohibitions in the Code of Criminal Procedure (Bill No. 2988/2024), regulation of the commercialization of genetically modified events (Bill No. 4216/2025) and improvements to the Rural Environmental Registry (Bill No. 3358/2025).
