Trajectory
Miguel Ângelo Monteiro Andrade is a Brazilian lawyer and politician born on October 11, 1991, in Belo Horizonte (MG) . He holds a law degree and a master's degree in Public Policy. He is the son of Durval Ângelo , also a politician, through whom he had early contact with activism and public life. A member of the Workers' Party (PT) since adolescence, he transitioned from student and party activism to institutional politics, focusing on social rights and participatory democracy.
In his political career , Miguel Ângelo was first elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais in 2022 , assuming his first term in the House of Representatives on February 1, 2023, as a member of the Brazil Federation of Hope (PT-PCdoB-PV) . In the House of Representatives, he has already served as vice-leader of the Brazil Federation of Hope on several occasions in 2024 and 2025, consolidating his participation in the coordination of the left-wing caucus. He also serves as an alternate member of committees and boards on Human Rights, Minorities and Racial Equality , Foreign Relations and National Defense, and the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJ) , in addition to being a member of the House of Representatives's Black Caucus and participating in special committees focused on digital rights and energy transition.
In the National Congress , Miguel Ângelo's legislative work focuses on human rights, public security, racial equality, and social protection , with 45 proposals of his authorship registered in 2025 on the House of Representatives's website (without any rapporteurship during that period). Among the projects presented is PL 5202/2025 , which amends the Penal Code and the Law on Heinous Crimes to toughen the penal treatment of homicides and intentional injuries committed against public officials and their families due to their function , demonstrating a focus on the protection of state agents and the strengthening of legal security.
