Robério Monteiro

Marcos Robério Ribeiro Monteiro was born on February 15, 1970 , in Itarema, Ceará. A businessman by training, he comes from a family with a presence in the fishing, agriculture, commerce, and export sectors, controlling the Monteiro Pescados Group . He was elected despite having completed elementary school.

Political Career

Robério Monteiro served as mayor of Itarema for two consecutive terms: from 2005 to 2008, and was re-elected for 2009-2012. After that, he served as a state representative in Ceará between 2015 and 2018. In 2018, he was elected federal deputy for Ceará by the PDT party with 131,275 votes, and re-elected in 2022. During his terms, Robério Monteiro took leave several times to assume positions in the state government, such as Special Advisor for Federal Affairs and Secretary of Water Resources.

Performance in the National Congress

As a federal deputy, Robério Monteiro serves on important committees, including the Health Committee (as a full member) and the National Integration and Regional Development Committee. He also served as a full member of the Transportation and Highways Committee, and as an alternate member of the Mines and Energy Committee. Amendments he authored have been approved, including, for example, resources for funding Primary Health Care in Ceará. He has a strong electoral base on the coast and in neighboring municipalities, focusing his efforts on public safety, job creation and income generation, as well as agribusiness. He has also participated in strong state-level political alliances, offering support to allies and expanding his influence in Ceará.
