Marcos Ribeiro do Val, originally from Vitória (ES), is a Brazilian instructor, consultant, speaker, politician, and former military officer, affiliated with Podemos (PODE) .
Before entering politics, Marcos do Val had a military career in the Brazilian Army, serving in the 38th Infantry Battalion in Espírito Santo. In the early 1990s, he founded CATI, a security company focused on advanced police training. Through this company, do Val has given courses and lectures aimed at disseminating various techniques and doctrines inherent to police work, such as non-lethal tactical approaches and immobilizations.
In the 2018 elections, Marcos do Val, affiliated with the Popular Socialist Party (PPS) , was elected senator for the state of Espírito Santo, receiving a total of 863,359 votes, 24.08% of the valid votes. Later, his party changed its name to Cidadania (Citizenship ). In August 2019, he left Cidadania and joined Podemos .
The senator's main priorities include defending the environment, strengthening public security, and combating corruption. Committed to environmental preservation, he seeks sustainable policies that guarantee a balance between development and the protection of natural resources. Furthermore, he is dedicated to strengthening security institutions and implementing effective measures to combat corruption, aiming to build a more just and transparent country.

He is the author of Bill 3522/2024 , which amends Article 41 of Law No. 9,605, of February 12, 1998, to increase the penalty for the crime of arson in forests or other forms of vegetation.
Author of Bill 1983/2024 , which amends Law No. 13.105, of March 16, 2015 (Code of Civil Procedure), to establish a new ground for disqualification of a judge from exercising their functions in a case.
Author of Bill 5598/2023 , which amends Law No. 13,608, of January 10, 2018, to provide greater operational practicality and protection to the institution of the informant of assets.
On June 15, 2023, the Federal Police , authorized by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes , carried out a search operation at addresses linked to the senator, who is being investigated for obstructing investigations into the January 8 attacks in Brasília . Marcos said the order was persecution by the Justice, who had been expecting it, but not on his birthday. The senator's Twitter account was also blocked.
Acknowledgements
Marcos do Val received the Parliamentary Excellence Award in 2023 from the Ranking of Politicians , with a score of 7.4 points, making him the 4th best parliamentarian in Espírito Santo and 65th in the overall ranking.
