Trajectory
Marcos Antônio Pereira Gomes, better known as Zé Trovão, was born on July 22, 1988, in São Paulo (SP). Before entering institutional politics, he worked as an independent truck driver and gained national visibility by participating in truck driver mobilizations in 2018 and in the protests scheduled for September 7, 2021.
Zé Trovão was elected federal deputy for Santa Catarina in the 2022 elections, assuming office for 2023-2027 as a member of the Liberal Party (PL). He has affiliated himself with the most radical sector of the agribusiness and truckers' political base, with strong engagement in street mobilization agendas and confrontational speeches against the institutions of the Republic.
In the National Congress, Zé Trovão held the position of deputy leader of the PL party at various points during the legislature. In 2025, he had authored approximately 333 proposals and reported on 29 projects. He is a full member of the Special Committee on Prevention and Assistance to Disasters and Natural Calamities, the Special Committee on the National Education Plan 2024-2034 (PL 2614/24), and the Working Group on Administrative Reform. He has faced controversies in the public sphere, including making a threat against Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Acknowledgements
Zé Trovão received the Parliamentary Excellence Award in 2023, 2025, and 2026 of the 57th Legislature (2023-2026) from the Ranking of Politicians , being the 2nd best parliamentarian in Santa Catarina and 36th in the overall ranking for the Legislature.
