Marcelo Henrique Teixeira Dias , better known politically as Marcelo Álvaro Antônio , was born on February 16, 1974, in Belo Horizonte (MG) . An entrepreneur by training, before entering politics he worked in the private sector and has a social involvement linked to youth, family, and animal welfare, having created initiatives such as the PREVENIR Project , focused on lectures on drug use prevention and support for families.
In his political career , Marcelo Álvaro Antônio began his journey as a city councilor in Belo Horizonte in 2012 , being one of the most voted in the Barreiro region and working on projects for popular participation in municipal management. He was elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022, consolidating his electoral base with a strong vote in the state. Affiliated with PL-MG , he also belonged to parties such as PRP, PR, and PSL throughout his career. Between 2019 and 2020, he took leave of his mandate to serve as Minister of Tourism in the federal government , later returning to the House of Representatives.
In the National Congress , Marcelo Álvaro Antônio serves in the 57th Legislature as a federal deputy for Minas Gerais (PL) and participates in permanent committees, holding the position of President of the Tourism Committee since March 2025. He is also a full member of the Urban Development Committee and previously served on other committees such as Health and Mines and Energy. In 2025, he has approximately 92 proposals of his authorship and 5 reported on the House of Representatives's website. Among the bills he authored is PL 3582/2023 , which deals with the visual identity of the Federative Republic of Brazil , establishing criteria and the use of national symbols in official acts. Furthermore, he participated in the formulation of budgetary amendments to PLN 22/2023 , directing resources to health and primary care in the state of Minas Gerais. His mandates have also involved work on animal welfare issues and various legislative proposals, reflecting his parliamentary agenda.
