Trajectory
Pastor Sergeant Isidório Santana Júnior , popularly known as Pastor Sergeant Isidório , was born in Salvador, Bahia, on February 26, 1962. He joined the Military Police of Bahia, where he reached the rank of sergeant, and gained notoriety for his social work focused on the recovery of drug addicts. He is the founder and director of the Dr. Jesus Foundation , located in Candeias, Bahia, a therapeutic community that shelters and treats people with chemical dependencies, an initiative that projected his public image even before his political career. Married, he has children and is recognized for his discourse marked by religiosity and strong popular appeal.
Isidório began his political career in 2004, being elected state deputy in Bahia by the Workers' Party (PT). Since then, he has built a solid electoral base and won successive mandates. He was re-elected state deputy in 2006, 2010 and 2014, always ranking among the most voted parliamentarians in the state.
In 2018, he was elected federal deputy for Bahia , with approximately 323,000 votes , being the most voted candidate in the state in that election. In 2022, he renewed his mandate as a federal deputy, again with a significant popular vote. Currently, he is affiliated with Avante .
In the National Congress, Pastor Sergeant Isidório stands out for his conservative profile on issues of customs and moral values , being a defender of religious agendas and the traditional family.
He is known for his performative speeches in the plenary, often carrying a Bible and chanting religious hymns. In addition to his parliamentary work, he maintains a strong connection to his social work in therapeutic communities, a topic that frequently leads to legislative discussions.
Among its most prominent causes are:
Defending the family and combating agendas related to the decriminalization of drugs;
Opposition to the legalization of abortion;
Incentives for the rehabilitation and social reintegration of drug addicts;
Advocating for stricter public safety policies;
Support for projects that expand the reach of religious organizations in social areas.
