Magno Pereira Malta, born in Macarani/BA on October 16, 1957, is an evangelical pastor and gospel musician. Before beginning his political career, Magno Malta worked as a pastor and gospel singer, gaining notoriety for his work in religious events and social projects.
Magno Malta began his political career in 1993, when he was elected councilman of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim by the Brazilian Labour Party (PTB) . In 1994, he was elected state deputy for Espírito Santo with 17,895 votes. In 1998, he was elected federal deputy for Espírito Santo by the Brazilian Labour Party (PTB) with 66,842 votes and re-elected in 2002 with 84,430 votes. In 2002, he was elected senator for Espírito Santo by the Liberal Party (PL) with 602,065 votes and re-elected in 2010 with 1,285,177 votes.
In 2018, he failed to be re-elected as senator, but remained active in politics and was an important figure in Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) presidential campaign. In 2022, he was again elected senator for Espírito Santo by the Liberal Party (PL) with 832,942 votes.
During his terms as a member of parliament, Magno Malta distinguished himself through his work on issues related to the defense of the family, the fight against pedophilia, human rights, and public policies focused on security and ethics. Among his main achievements are:
President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Drug Trafficking: He led the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry that in 2000 identified 104 individuals linked to a network involved in drug trafficking, car dismantling, and corruption.
President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on Pedophilia : He led the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry that investigated pedophilia crimes in Brazil between 2008 and 2010 , resulting in numerous arrests and actions to combat this type of crime.
Law to Combat Pedophilia : Magno Malta was also one of the main figures behind the approval of the 2008 legislation that toughened penalties for sexual crimes against children and adolescents and promotes prevention and awareness campaigns.
In 2016, he was one of the senators who voted in favor of the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff . He voted in favor of several economic reforms, such as the Constitutional Amendment that established the Spending Cap Rule in 2016 and the Labor Reform in 2017. He voted against the 2023 Tax Reform .

Magno Malta received the Parliamentary Excellence Award in 2023 from the Ranking of Politicians , with a score of 7.48 points, making him the 2nd best parliamentarian in Espírito Santo and 50th in the overall ranking.
