Magda Mofatto

Magda Mofatto Hon was born on October 26, 1948, in Limeira, São Paulo, but moved at a young age to Caldas Novas, Goiás, where she built her personal, business, and political life. A businesswoman in the hotel and tourism industry, owning inns, hotels, water parks, and related ventures, she began her public career in Caldas Novas in the 1990s, when she was elected city councilor (1993-1996). She later served as municipal secretary of Tourism, was elected state representative in Goiás, and mayor of Caldas Novas before seeking a seat in the National Congress.

Political career

Since 2011, Magda Mofatto has held consecutive terms as a federal deputy for Goiás, having been affiliated with different parties (PTB, PR, PL, Patriota, and most recently PRD), currently serving the 2023-2027 term. Her political profile is marked by strong involvement in issues of public safety, agribusiness, tourism, job and income generation, as well as being a prominent voice in defense of the right to own and carry firearms, and stricter anti-crime laws.

Performance in the National Congress

In the National Congress, among her recent activities, she stands out for having been the rapporteur of the opinion that defended maintaining the imprisonment of Congressman Daniel Silveira, classifying the STF's decision as "correct, necessary, and proportional." She also voted in favor of Bill 2.253/2022, which proposes ending temporary releases of prisoners on holidays, when they are not in a study regime, an exception, or in specific cases, such as resocialization, provided they have not been convicted of a heinous crime or a serious threat. In 2025, Magda Mofatto is the author of 24 legislative proposals and is the rapporteur (as of the time of data) for 1 project, according to the House of Representatives's website.
