Luiz Lima

Luiz Eduardo Carneiro da Silva de Souza Lima was born on December 10, 1977, in Rio de Janeiro. Before entering politics, he built a successful career as a professional swimmer, holding South American records in the 400m and 500m freestyle events and participating in the Olympic Games. A graduate in Physical Education from Estácio de Sá University, he worked as a swimming instructor and coach before transitioning to politics.

Political career

In his political career, Luiz Lima was elected federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro in 2018 (term 2019-2023) by the PSL and re-elected in 2022, now by the PL, assuming office for the 2023-2027 legislature. In 2025, he migrated to the NOVO party, aligning himself with the discourse of political renewal and efficient management.

In the National Congress, Luiz Lima has focused his work on sports, education, and health. He was president of the Sports Committee of the House of Representatives during his term.
