Lucas Redecker

Lucas Bello Redecker, born in Taquari/RS on November 14, 1982, holds a degree in Business Administration from the Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA). Before beginning his political career, Lucas Redecker worked as a businessman in the agricultural sector and was president of the PSDB Youth in Rio Grande do Sul. He is the son of former federal deputy Júlio Redecker , who died in the tragic TAM plane crash in Congonhas in 2007. He studied law at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos and veterinary medicine at the Lutheran University of Brazil, but did not complete either course .

Political career

Lucas Redecker began his political activism in the Brazilian Progressive Party (PPB), becoming president of the Rio Grande do Sul Progressive Youth, but left the party after his father joined the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB).

He ran for mayor of Novo Hamburgo for the PSDB party on two occasions. He obtained 9% of the votes in 2004, finishing in fourth place as the head of the ticket. In 2008, he ran as vice-mayor on Jair Foscarini's ticket, receiving 42%.

In 2010 , he was elected state representative for Rio Grande do Sul with 69,043 votes , being the fifth most voted in that election and the best performance of the PSDB for the Legislative Assembly.

Redecker was a leader of his party and positioned himself in opposition to the government of Tarso Genro (PT), having chaired the CPI of Electric Energy , which aimed to oversee the supply of electricity in Rio Grande do Sul. He was re-elected state deputy in 2014 with 96,561 votes , being the second most voted this time. In his first two years in office, he took leave to assume the Secretariat of Mines and Energy in the government of José Ivo Sartori (PMDB). His main agendas were the promotion of renewable energies , through the RS Renewable Energies program . He was also responsible for tax exemption in the production of solar energy .

In 2018, he was elected federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul by the PSDB party with 114,346 votes . At the end of that year, he led the government transition before Eduardo Leite (PSDB) took over the Palácio Piratini (state government). He contributed to the extension of the increased ICMS (state sales tax) rates and the approval of the PEC (constitutional amendment) to allow privatizations without plebiscites, which later facilitated the privatization of companies such as Corsan (Rio Grande do Sul Sanitation Company) and the State Electricity Generation Company (CEEE-G) of Rio Grande do Sul . In 2022, he was re-elected federal deputy by the PSDB with 119,069 votes .

Performance in the House of Representatives

During his term as a federal deputy, Lucas Redecker's main priorities were the economy and energy issues. He voted in favor of the 2019 Pension Reform and the 2023 Tax Reform. In 2024, he was elected president of the Foreign Relations Committee .

Among his main achievements are:

• Rapporteur for Bill 364/19 , which amends the Atlantic Forest Law ;
• Rapporteur for Bill 6236/19 , which facilitated partnerships between the Unified Health System (SUS) and private hospitals in cases of insufficient health service supply.

• Rapporteur for Bill 4473/20 , which allows mining for civil construction without a prior environmental impact study.
