Trajectory
Lafayette Luiz Doorgal de Andrada was born on October 17, 1966, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais . A graduate in Law from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), he also worked as a professor and public servant, specializing in and interested in topics such as constitutional law, energy, and environmental policies. He is a member of a family with a strong political tradition in Minas Gerais: he is the son of Bonifácio José Tamm de Andrada and grandson of the former congressman José Bonifácio Lafayette de Andrada.
His federal political career began in 2019, when he was elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais by the PRB (now Republicanos) and re-elected in 2022, assuming a second term for the period 2023-2027. Throughout his career, he has held several party vice-leadership positions and has actively participated in the parliamentary bloc that brings together Republicanos, MDB, PSD and other allied parties.
In the National Congress, Lafayette de Andrada has focused his work on issues related to economic development , clean energy , and digital law. In March 2025, he was elected president of the House of Representatives's Economic Development Committee (CDE) , replacing Congressman Danilo Forte. He has also served as 2nd vice-president of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJC) and acts as rapporteur for proposals in the areas of digital law and energy transition. In legislative terms, according to House of Representatives data, he has already authored dozens of proposals; in 2025, for example, he has 172 authored proposals and 27 registered reports . Another highlight of his work has been in the energy sector: he was the rapporteur for the draft of the Brazilian Electricity Code and has sought to strengthen distributed generation policies, presenting amendments and proposals in the electricity sector.
