Trajectory
Josivaldo dos Santos Melo, known as Josivaldo JP or simply JP, was born on November 29, 1983, in Jacundá (PA). He graduated from high school, without a declared higher education degree. He is a businessman, merchant, and farmer. He is married and has children; his personal trajectory includes growing up in a large family, coming from humble origins, having moved to Imperatriz (MA) when he was young.
Josivaldo JP first entered municipal politics: running for city councilor and later serving as Secretary of Economic Development of Imperatriz (MA) in the period preceding his first federal mandate. In 2018, he ran for federal deputy and became an alternate, but assumed the mandate on January 1, 2021. In 2022, he was re-elected for the 2023-2027 term by the PSD in Maranhão, with approximately 79,699 votes.
Since taking office as a federal deputy, Josivaldo JP has focused on labor, health, education, job creation, and strengthening municipalities, especially in the southern region of Maranhão. He is a member of the Industry, Commerce and Services Committee and an alternate member of committees such as Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development, and the special committee on Tax Immunity (PEC 005/23). He has presented proposals (47 of his own authorship to date in 2025) and participated in nominal votes with considerable attendance in plenary sessions. He also closely monitors local infrastructure projects, for example, working towards the duplication of the BR-010 highway in Imperatriz, demanding deadlines and improvements, such as the installation of a pedestrian overpass.
