Trajectory
José Cerqueira de Santana Neto, known as Zé Neto , was born on April 26, 1964 , in Feira de Santana (BA) . He graduated in Law from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS) and is a labor lawyer. Throughout his career, he has always maintained a strong connection with social and labor movements, especially those focused on workers' rights.
Zé Neto began his political life as an activist for the Workers' Party (PT) , a party he has been affiliated with since his youth. He was elected state deputy in Bahia for four consecutive terms, holding leadership positions in the Legislative Assembly, including as leader of the Jaques Wagner and Rui Costa governments. In 2018, he was elected federal deputy for Bahia , consolidating his prominence on the national stage. He also ran for mayor of Feira de Santana in several elections, maintaining a strong political presence in the municipality and the region.
In the House of Representatives, Zé Neto's work is marked by his advocacy for family farming, public health, education, and labor rights . He is a member of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJC) and also the Economic Development Committee , where he actively participates in discussions on public policies that affect workers and small entrepreneurs.
As a rapporteur and author of proposals, he stood out in defending projects related to strengthening the SUS ( Brazilian Public Health System), access to technical and higher education , and support for micro and small businesses . He worked on projects to expand subsidized credit lines and incentives for family farming, in addition to proposing social protection measures during the pandemic. His reports and approved proposals reinforce his agenda of economic development combined with social justice.
Acknowledgements
Zé Neto received the Parliamentary Excellence Award from the 2025 Ranking of Politicians , being the 2nd best parliamentarian in Bahia and 58th in the overall ranking.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.
