Trajectory

José Benito Priante Júnior is a lawyer, born on December 2, 1963, in Belém (PA) , and is a politician with a long public career in Brazil. He began his political career at a young age, working in the student movement for redemocratization and later as a city councilor in Belém and a state representative before reaching the National Congress. He is married and the father of four children, and throughout more than 30 years in public life , he has been known for his work promoting the social and economic development of Pará and Brazil.

Political Career

Priante is in his seventh term as a federal deputy for Pará (1995–1999, 1999–2003, 2003–2007, 2011–2015, 2015–2019, 2019–2023 and 2023–2027) representing the MDB party . Throughout this period, he has held the position of vice-leader of the MDB on several occasions and has chaired various technical committees of the House of Representatives, including the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, as well as committees on Public Security, Urban Development and others during previous terms, standing out for his experience and influence within the House.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In the National Congress , Priante has a consistent legislative performance, with approximately 40 authored proposals and 4 to 5 reported on by 2025 registered in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the Urban Development Committee and has previously chaired the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee (CMADS) , in addition to being a member of other committees throughout his career. Among the projects he has authored are Bill No. 3709/2025 (which establishes the National Program for Comprehensive Assistance to Riverside Populations – PNAIR), Bill No. 3710/2025 (which creates the Mobility Fund for Riverside Communities and Low-Income Students), Bill No. 3527/2024 (which declares "Marajó Cheese" as intangible cultural heritage), and Bill No. 5734/2023 (free transportation for people undergoing cancer treatment), among others.
