Trajectory
José Alves Rocha was born on August 18, 1948, in Coribe (BA). He is an anesthesiologist, graduated from the Federal University of Bahia in 1973, with a specialization in anesthesiology from the Hospital das Clínicas de Salvador in 1975. He worked as a physician at the Secretariat of Administration of the State of Bahia, at the General Hospital of the Military Police, and at the Getúlio Vargas Hospital between 1975 and 1979. He also presided over the Anesthesiology Society of the State of Bahia and the Esporte Clube Vitória, in addition to leading its Deliberative Council.
He began his political career as a state representative for Bahia in 1979, holding consecutive terms with ARENA, PDS, and PFL until 1995. Since 1995, he has continuously held federal mandates, currently serving his sixth consecutive term in the House of Representatives representing the state of Bahia. He was deputy leader of the government in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2016 (during Dilma Rousseff's administration) and served as rapporteur for the BNDES Parliamentary Inquiry Commission.
They have 38 proposals of their own authorship.
He is a member of the Committee on National Integration and Regional Development, the Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defense, the Committee on Constitution and Justice and Citizenship, the Special Committee on the Sports Incentive Law (PLP 234/24), and the Committee on Tourism.
He was president of the National Integration and Regional Development Commission between March 2024 and March 2025.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.
