Coronel Assis

Jonildo José de Assis (better known as Colonel Assis ) was born on April 16, 1976, in Cuiabá (MT) . A career military police officer, he was Commander-General of the Military Police of Mato Grosso and held positions such as Deputy Secretary of Public Security, having a long history in the area of ​​institutional security before entering politics and being elected to federal office.

Political Career

In his political career , Colonel Assis joined União Brasil (UNIÃO-MT) and was elected federal deputy for Mato Grosso in 2022 , assuming his first term in the House of Representatives on February 1, 2023. He is currently affiliated with the Liberal Party (PL). Since arriving in Congress, he has participated in leadership roles in parliamentary groups and blocs, including periods as vice-leader of the Opposition in the Federal House of Representatives in 2025 , an articulation that reinforces his political work aligned with conservative agendas and public security. In Parliament, he is a member of committees such as the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJ) , the Special Committee on Federal Competencies in Public Security (PEC 018/25) , and external committees for monitoring health crises and investigating indigenous issues, in addition to being an alternate member of committees such as Public Security and Agriculture .
