João Somariva Daniel , known as João Daniel , is a Brazilian farmer and politician born on August 22, 1967, in São Lourenço d'Oeste (SC) . Affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT) , he began his political career in the state of Sergipe, where he established himself as a popular leader and defender of social rights. Before reaching the federal level, João Daniel was elected state deputy in Sergipe , a position he held between 2011 and 2014 , when he began his broader legislative career. In 2014, he won his first term as a federal deputy , being re-elected in 2018 and 2022 , and is currently serving his third term in the House of Representatives (2023–2027) , representing Sergipe with a strong focus on social justice and the defense of workers.
In his institutional political career, João Daniel has played roles in party coordination and representing the PT (Workers' Party) caucus in the House of Representatives . He holds the position of vice-leader of the Brazil Federation of Hope , in addition to having performed internal party leadership functions throughout his mandates. He is a member of committees such as the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development , the Committee on Participatory Legislation, and is part of the Special Committee on the National Policy for People with Autism , as well as being an alternate member of committees such as the Committee on National Integration and Regional Development , spaces that broaden his work on social, rural and citizen participation issues.
In his legislative work, João Daniel presents and signs a series of bills that reflect his agenda linked to strengthening social rights, economic regulation, and civil and digital protection. Among his recent proposals are bills such as PL 4218/2025 and PL 2176/2025 , in addition to various proposals dealing with the regularization of social security debts ( PL 802/2025 ), digital equity and algorithmic transparency in consumer relations ( PL 5441/2025 ), environmental measures and combating illegal burning ( PL 3643/2024 ), and the classification of crimes such as enforced disappearance with aggravated penalties ( PL 728/2025 ). He has also presented initiatives that amend provisions of the Civil Code and the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws), and projects on technology and legal modernization issues, such as PL 3011/2025 to expand the legal validity of electronic signatures.
