João Cury Neto (known as João Cury ) is a Brazilian lawyer and politician born on October 22, 1973, in Botucatu (SP) . A graduate in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas , he began his public career in municipal and state executive positions before reaching Congress. Cury served two terms as mayor of Botucatu (2009-2016), was president of the Foundation for the Development of Education (FDE) in São Paulo, and state secretary of Education , in addition to holding positions in municipal and metropolitan administration related to housing.
In his political career , João Cury joined the MDB and ran for the House of Representatives in 2022 , obtaining 80,085 votes and becoming the party's first alternate . On January 7, 2025, he effectively assumed the mandate of federal deputy (2023-2027) after the incumbent resigned to assume an executive position, representing the state of São Paulo . In Parliament, he has already served as vice-leader of the expanded bloc (UNIÃO, PP, PSD, Republicanos, MDB, PSDB-CIDADANIA Federation, PODE) at different times in 2025 and is a member of committees as a full member of the Education Committee and an alternate member of the Consumer Protection Committee , reflecting his focus on social public policies and education.
In the National Congress , João Cury's legislative work focuses primarily on social policies, education, regional development, and local infrastructure , with approximately 25 proposals authored by him and 2 reported on in 2025, registered on the House of Representatives' website.
