Jilmar Augustinho Tatto is a Brazilian politician born on June 25, 1965, in Corbélia (PR) . A member of the Workers' Party (PT) since 1981, he built his public career also in municipal public administration in São Paulo, where he was Municipal Secretary of Supply, Sub-prefectures, and Transportation in the administrations of Marta Suplicy and Fernando Haddad, being responsible for the implementation of the Single Ticket system , bus corridors, bike lanes, and mobility policies that marked the city from an urban and social point of view. He was also a city councilor and state deputy before reaching the House of Representatives.
In his political career , Tatto was elected federal deputy for São Paulo in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 , holding consecutive terms until 2015, when he stepped down to work in municipal administration. He returned to federal politics with his election to the 57th Legislature (2023–2027) on February 1, 2023, with over 157,843 votes, highlighting issues such as urban mobility, zero fares, and social policies . During his parliamentary career, he has served as vice-leader of the PT (Workers' Party) and vice-leader of the Government in the House of Representatives in 2025 , in addition to having been Secretary of Social Communication of the House of Representatives at the beginning of the current legislature and being a member of permanent committees such as Communication , Financial Oversight and Control , as well as acting as an alternate member in committees such as Finance and Taxation and Urban Development .
In the National Congress , Jilmar Tatto has an active legislative output with projects focused on transportation, social public policies, and the protection of rights , with several proposals presented since resuming his mandate. Among the proposals he has filed are Bill 6088/2025 , which establishes the National Zero Fare Program for Urban Transportation ; Bill 3932/2025 , which amends Law No. 9,478/1997 and Law No. 12,351/2010 to allocate a portion of oil and natural gas royalties to fund free urban public transportation ; and Bill 1497/2025 , which amends the Statute of Children and Adolescents to assign legal status and rights to guardianship councilors and other provisions . Bill 2577/2024 , which amends Law No. 12.212/2010 to grant a 100% discount on electricity tariffs for families with dependents who require continuous use of electrical appliances due to health conditions ; Bill 4024/2024 , which amends the Organic Law of Social Assistance (LOAS) to institute an additional 30% to the Continuous Benefit Payment (BPC) for people who need permanent assistance in basic life activities ; and proposals such as Bill 105/2024 , which expands the benefits of the Single Registry for social programs , Bill 3212/2024 and Bill 2764/2023 , both amending provisions of the Brazilian Traffic Code on topics such as electronic vehicle removal and school transport inspection, demonstrating its work on social issues, urban mobility, protection of vulnerable populations and public policies for social inclusion.
