Izalci Lucas Ferreira, born in Araújos/MG on April 7, 1956, holds a degree in accounting from the Unified Education Institution of the Federal District (UDF) and a postgraduate degree in Financial Administration from the Unified Education Center of Brasília (UNICEUB).
Izalci Lucas began his political career in 1998, running for district deputy for the PSDB in the Federal District, winning the first alternate position. In the same year, he was invited by then-governor Joaquim Roriz to assume the position of financial director of the Urban Cleaning Service (SLU).
In 2002, he was elected district deputy and, two years later, took leave of his mandate to serve as Secretary of Science and Technology of the Federal District . In 2006, he ran for federal deputy, again becoming the first alternate, but returned to the Secretariat of Science and Technology of the Federal District at the invitation of then-governor José Roberto Arruda .
In 2010, Izalci was elected federal deputy, a position to which he was re-elected in 2014. In 2018, his political career reached a new level when he was elected senator for the Federal District.
Izalci Lucas has distinguished himself through his work on issues related to the defense of education, science, technology, and innovation.
He voted in favor of the impeachment process against Dilma Rousseff . Subsequently, he voted in favor of the Constitutional Amendment on the Spending Cap . In April 2017, he voted in favor of the Labor Reform . In August 2017, he voted to dismiss the charges of passive corruption against President Michel Temer . In 2023, he voted in favor of the Tax Reform .
Among his main achievements are:
Izalci Lucas coordinated the Tax Reform Working Group and chaired the Senate's Regional Development Committee and the Senate's Future Committee .
Acknowledgements
Izalci received the Parliamentary Excellence Award in 2023 and 2024 from the Ranking of Politicians . In 2025, he received the award again, ranking as the 2nd best senator in the Federal District and 9th overall.
