Trajectory
Ivan Valente is a Brazilian politician, engineer, and professor born on July 5, 1946, in São Paulo (SP) . Affiliated with PSOL (PSOL-REDE Federation) since 2005, he built his parliamentary career over decades, being elected federal deputy for the first time in 1995 and serving successive terms to date (including 2007–2011, 2011–2015, 2015–2019, 2019–2023, and 2023–2027) representing the state of São Paulo in the House of Representatives . He is one of the historical leaders of the socialist left in Congress, working on issues such as human rights, democracy, the environment, and fiscal justice.
Throughout his political career , Valente has been a constant voice on progressive agendas and democratic control of the state and the economy. He has worked in various parliamentary blocs and fronts, participated in fundamental debates on taxes and social policies, including a prominent role in the construction of the approved tax reform, advocating for heavier taxation on the wealthiest and tax simplification, and has been a recurring figure in committees such as Human Rights, Minorities and Racial Equality and Environment and Sustainable Development in the 57th Legislature, where he maintains an active presence in meetings and votes.
In the National Congress , Ivan Valente has an intense legislative activity, with approximately 145 proposals of his authorship and 13 reported in 2025 registered on the House of Representatives's portal. In running text, his work includes the presentation of projects such as PL 1725/2025 , which prohibits the offering of new oil and gas exploration blocks in the Amazon and mandates environmental recovery in areas where hydrocarbons are produced ; PL 2634/2025 , which establishes the National Program to Encourage the Creation and Strengthening of Municipal Climate and Environment Councils ; PL 5369/2025 , which proposes taxation (15%) on income from investments in LCA and CRA with the objective of reducing fiscal inequalities; PL 1642/2025 / PL 1954/2025 , which establishes financial-educational incentives for students of public professional and technological education ; and Bill 10301/2018 , which strengthens the role of society in monitoring school meals in public schools , approved by the Constitution and Justice Committee in 2025 and sent to the Senate. These initiatives reflect its work in the areas of environment, participatory democracy, fiscal justice, and public education .
