Trajectory
Hugo Motta has a significant political lineage, being the grandson of Nabor Wanderley, former Mayor of Patos (PB), and of Edivaldo Fernandes Motta, former State Representative and former Federal Representative. His grandmother, Francisca Motta, was also elected Mayor of Patos in 2012.
His political career involved two party affiliations. He joined the MDB in 2005 and remained until 2018, when he joined the Republicanos, his current party. At age 21, in 2010, he became the youngest politician ever elected, winning 86,150 votes. During his term, he served as a member and president of the Financial Oversight and Control Committee (CFFC).
He was re-elected in 2014 with 123,686 votes, standing out for voting in favor of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff and against opening an investigation against former President Michel Temer. In 2015, he was nominated by the MDB to chair the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Petrobras.
In the 2018 elections, he ran for the Republicanos party and received 92,468 votes, ranking as the fifth most voted candidate. During that legislature, he served several times as Deputy Leader of blocs and of his party.

Hugo Motta received the Parliamentary Excellence Award, offered by the Ranking of Politicians, in 2021, 2023, and 2024. On the latter occasion, he came in 1st place in Paraíba.
