Trajectory
Gustavo Gayer Machado de Araújo was born on April 13, 1981, in Goiânia, Goiás. He is a language teacher and businessman, owner of the school “Gayer & Gayer Idiomas,” and has become politically engaged as a digital activist. He is the son of Maria da Conceição Gayer, a police chief, city councilwoman, and state representative who passed away in 2006, and was raised primarily by his older brother. Gayer has a higher education degree, although I have not found public confirmation of course completion.
In the 2022 elections, Gustavo Gayer was elected federal deputy for Goiás, representing the PL party, with the second-highest vote count in the state. He assumed his mandate in February 2023 for the 57th Legislature. Since then, he has held positions as vice-leader of the PL party at various times, albeit for short (interim) or alternating periods.
His work in the National Congress is marked by high productivity in proposing legislation: in 2025, for example, he authored 656 proposals and was the rapporteur for 13 projects . He is a member of permanent committees such as the Education Committee, of which he was an initial member, and also participates as a full and alternate member in special committees such as those on Artificial Intelligence, Sports Incentives (Sports Incentive Law – PLP 234/24), Digital Law, among others. Gayer often uses social media in a very incisive way, making provocative public pronouncements, which both reinforces his visibility and generates controversy with opposition parties and bodies within Congress itself. He is also involved in representations before the Ethics Council for statements considered offensive by political opponents, and is the target of an investigation by the Attorney General's Office for inquiries related to defamation and racism.
Acknowledgements
Gustavo Gayer received the Parliamentary Excellence Award from the Politicians Ranking in every year of the 57th Legislature (2023-2026), being the best parliamentarian in Goiás and 21st in the overall ranking for the Legislature.
