Geraldo Resende Pereira is a physician, politician, and federal deputy for Mato Grosso do Sul (PSDB-MS) , born on April 20, 1955, in Córrego Danta (MG) . A graduate in Medicine from the Federal University of Ceará, he worked as a healthcare professional in Dourados (MS) after his residency and transformed his personal journey of overcoming challenges and community service into a political commitment to defending public policies focused on health, education, and social inclusion, especially for rural and vulnerable populations.
In his political career , Resende was first elected federal deputy in 2002 , assuming office in 2003 , and has since been re-elected for multiple legislatures, including the current 57th Legislature (2023-2027) for the PSDB in the PSDB-Cidadania Federation representing the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Throughout his time in Congress, he has held positions such as vice-leader of the party in various bloc compositions , served on permanent committees such as Education, Financial Oversight and Control, Social Security and Family, among others , and coordinated external committees , including efforts to monitor infant mortality among indigenous populations.
In the National Congress , Geraldo Resende has a long legislative record, with over 400 proposals authored by him and approximately 49 reported on in 2025 , according to the House of Representatives's website. Among the bills recently presented are PL 6468/2025 , which names the maternal and child care unit of the UFGD University Hospital "Antônio Albuquerque Maranhão" ; PL 947/2025 , which includes podiatry in the list of services of LC 116/2003 ; PL 4267/2025 , which amends the ECA (Statute of the Child and Adolescent) to include premature infant care in the child's health record ; and PL 422/2025 , which creates incentives for nursing professionals in vaccination rooms . Bill 2358/2025 , which includes high-dose vaccines against influenza and respiratory syncytial virus in the national vaccination schedule for the elderly ; and Bill 425/2025 , which inscribes the name of Antônio João Ribeiro in the Book of Heroes and Heroines of the Fatherland . Other previous bills deal with the rights of people with disabilities ( Bill 3172/2024 ), amendments to the Statute of the Elderly ( Bill 2287/2024 ), and regulations on lotteries ( Bill 4455/2024 ). These bills reflect his work in public health, social inclusion, strengthening rights, and policies of symbolic and cultural recognition .
