Chico Alencar

Chico Alencar, a history graduate, built his professional career as a public school teacher and intellectual connected to education, publishing, and political reflection. He worked on educational projects, popular movements, and pastoral activities linked to Liberation Theology, maintaining constant contact with civil society organizations since the final period of the military dictatorship.

Before entering institutional politics, he was already a public figure in educational and social debate, working as a writer, columnist, and lecturer, especially on topics related to democracy, social justice, and public ethics. This intellectual and activist background preceded his entry into elected office.

Political career

He entered politics as a city councilman in Rio de Janeiro, a position he held for two terms. Later, he was elected state representative. In 2006, he was elected federal deputy, and began working in the National Congress after the founding of PSOL as an alternative to the left of the PT.

Throughout his career, he maintained party and ideological consistency, with continuous activity in the Legislature, marked by votes aligned with the PSOL's programmatic agenda and by systematic opposition to center and right-wing governments.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In the House of Representatives, she works primarily in the areas of education, human rights, culture, democracy, and oversight of the Executive branch. She participates in thematic committees related to social and educational issues.

His parliamentary work prioritizes speeches, bills, and requests, focusing on structural issues of the State, criticism of fiscal and labor reforms, and defense of public policies for social protection.
