Trajectory
Florentino Alves Veras Neto was born on October 5, 1969, in the municipality of Buriti dos Lopes (PI) . An administrator and lawyer, he graduated in Administration from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and in Law from the University of Brasília (UnB) before entering public life. His political career began in municipal management as vice-mayor of Parnaíba from 2009 to 2012 and then as mayor of Parnaíba from 2013 to 2016 ; he was also Secretary of Health of the State of Piauí between 2017 and 2022 before being elected federal deputy.
He was elected federal deputy for Piauí by the PT (Workers' Party) in the 2022 elections, assuming his first term in the House of Representatives in the 2023–2027 legislature . Before that, he accumulated experience in municipal and state executive positions, which broadened his political base and knowledge of public policies, especially in the area of health. Within the caucus, he has already held positions such as vice-leader of the Brazil Federation of Hope , reinforcing his parliamentary articulation and alignment with the progressive base.
In the House of Representatives , Florentino Neto actively participates in legislative activities and committees. In 2025, he will be a full member of committees such as the Special Committee on Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen Production, the Special Committee on Prevention and Combat of Cancer, Stroke and Heart Disease, and the Finance and Taxation Committee , in addition to serving as an alternate member of committees such as Health and Foreign Relations and National Defense. According to official data, he has 107 proposals of his own authorship and 14 of his own report registered in the current legislature. Among his projects are matters of a social and public health nature, such as initiatives for the inclusion of awareness dates ( PL 4655/2025 ) and projects dealing with rights and accessibility in different legislative areas.
