Trajectory

Elvino José Bohn Gass is a federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul , affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT) , born on February 5, 1962 , in Santo Cristo (RS). A family farmer, union leader, and teacher, he began his career in social and union movements, especially in the rural movement and the Youth Pastoral, which shaped his commitment to defending workers, family farming, and public policies for social inclusion. Before entering Congress, he was a city councilor in Santo Cristo (RS) and a state deputy in Rio Grande do Sul , positions in which he focused on social rights and regional development.

Political Career

In his institutional political career , Bohn Gass is serving his fourth term as a federal deputy (2011-2015, 2015-2019, 2019-2023, and 2023-2027) for the PT-RS (Workers' Party of Rio Grande do Sul), being one of the most experienced members of the Rio Grande do Sul delegation in the House of Representatives. In the legislative sphere, he has served as vice-leader of the PT , leader of the PT caucus , vice-leader of the opposition , and more recently, as vice-leader of the Government in the National Congress and of the Brazil Federation of Hope , positions that reinforce his influence in the most significant parliamentary negotiations. Furthermore, he is the 2nd vice-president of the Commission for Prevention and Assistance to Disasters and Natural Calamities , and is also a member of commissions such as the Labor Commission and external commissions dealing with social and regional issues.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In his legislative work , Bohn Gass has a diverse portfolio of projects and has served as rapporteur in areas aligned with his causes. Among the projects he has presented are Bill 5560/2020 , which proposes the creation of pesticide-free territories, and Bill 4325/2019 , which prohibits the manufacture and use of fireworks that produce loud noises, as well as Bill 5298/2020 , which requires establishments to inform consumers about the substitution of dairy products with similar alternatives. He has also presented proposals such as Bill 1518/2023 , which grants Encruzilhada do Sul (RS) the title of National Capital of Olive Growing, and Bill 2145/2022 , which recognizes Pomeranian culture as intangible cultural heritage. Other initiatives cover topics such as social security ( PL 793/2022 ) and support for rural credit operations in disaster situations ( PL 4448/2024 , co-authored). As rapporteur, he signed opinions on proposals such as PL 3117/2024 , indicating active participation in the legislative process. His parliamentary work is also expressed in the debate on national issues, such as the defense of family farming, the Fundeb (National Fund for Basic Education), and opposition to measures that undermine labor rights.
