Trajectory
Elmar José Vieira Nascimento was born on July 6, 1970, in Campo Formoso (BA). He is a lawyer, graduated from the Catholic University of Salvador (1993), with a specialization in Law (Fundação Faculdade de Direito da Bahia, 1996). He began his political career as a city councilor in Campo Formoso, elected in 1996 and re-elected in 2000, before moving on to state and federal positions.
In 2002, he was elected state deputy in Bahia, re-elected in 2006 and 2010. From 2014, he held the position of federal deputy, being re-elected in 2018 with 103,823 votes and again in 2022 with an impressive 175,439 votes. At the national level, he has led the Democrats party (now União Brasil) in the House of Representatives.

He was the leader of União Brasil in the House of Representatives between February 1, 2023, and February 1, 2025, and later the leader of the bloc composed of União, PP, PSDB, Cidadania, PDT, Avante, Solidariedade, and PRD, from August 14, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
