Duda Salabert is a Brazilian politician who made history by becoming the first transgender person elected to the National Congress. She is the national vice-president of Ciro Gomes' party, the Democratic Labour Party (PDT), and was elected with a total of 208,300 votes. Her first term in the House of Representatives will focus on defending human rights, the environment, and education.

Duda's political career began in 2020 when she was elected councilwoman of Belo Horizonte for the PDT party. Her election was remarkable, as she became the most voted councilwoman in the city's history. Duda is a defender of transgender rights and has a significant presence through the NGO Transvest, offering lectures on LGBTQI+ issues, artistic workshops, pre-university education programs, vocational courses, and other resources for the trans population of Belo Horizonte and the metropolitan region.

Duda also stood out for authoring several laws and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life and inclusion of vulnerable groups. She participated in the creation of the law that guaranteed the distribution of sanitary pads in schools and proposed the institution of World Play Week. Furthermore, Duda is the author of the law that mandates the presence of sign language interpreters in maternity wards to support deaf mothers.

Another important area of ​​Duda's work is environmental protection. She became one of the main opponents of the authorization granted by the government of Minas Gerais to the company Tamisa to carry out mining activities in the Serra do Curral.
