Trajectory

Domingos Sávio Campos de Sá, born in São Tiago/MG on October 11, 1959, graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Before beginning his political career, he worked as a veterinarian and businessman in the agricultural sector.

Political career

Domingos Sávio began his political career in the PSDB party, serving as a city councilor in Divinópolis in 1992, and during his term, he held the presidency of the City Council between 1994 and 1996. In addition, he also served as mayor of the same region in the last year of his term as a city councilor.

His entry into the state sphere occurred in 2003, when he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais with 71,725 ​​votes. During his terms, Domingos Sávio focused on municipal issues, presiding over committees and acting as Majority Leader in the House. In 2010, he moved to the federal sphere, still with the PSDB, being elected federal deputy with 96,157 votes, and re-elected in 2014 with 160,140 votes and in 2018 with 114,414 votes. In 2022, he joined the Liberal Party (PL) and was re-elected federal deputy with 140,640 votes.

Performance in the National Congress

Throughout his terms as a federal deputy, Domingos Sávio has primarily focused his efforts on issues related to the rural environment and sectoral economic matters. He has repeatedly been a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development. Furthermore, he has served as vice-president of the Parliamentary Front for Cooperativism – Frencoop – and is the president of the Parliamentary Front for Commerce and Services. He is a critic of judicial activism and frequently opposes decisions of Ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) .

In 2016, he was one of the federal deputies who voted in favor of the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff . He voted in favor of several economic reforms, such as the Constitutional Amendment that established the Spending Cap Rule in 2016, the Labor Reform in 2017, the Pension Reform in 2019, and the Tax Reform in 2023. Domingos Sávio received the Parliamentary Excellence Award from the Politicians Ranking in every year of the 57th Legislature (2023-2026), being the 2nd best parliamentarian in Minas Gerais and 22nd in the overall ranking for the Legislature.
