Trajectory
Dionilso Mateus Marcon is a federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul representing the Workers' Party (PT) , born on September 21, 1964, in Ronda Alta (RS) . The son of farmers and a rural settler, he began his career fighting for rural workers' rights, joining the Youth Pastoral, the Rural Workers' Union , and leading the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST) in the state. Before reaching the National Congress, he served three terms as a state deputy in Rio Grande do Sul , where he chaired the Citizenship and Human Rights Committee, defending the rights of workers, small-scale agriculture, and social movements.
Institutionally, Marcon plays a prominent role both inside and outside the House of Representatives. He was first elected federal deputy in 2011 , and re-elected in subsequent elections for the 2011–2015, 2015–2019, 2019–2023, and 2023–2027 legislatures. He has served as vice-leader of the PT (Workers' Party) and the Brazil Federation of Hope , in addition to acting as coordinator of the Rio Grande do Sul federal caucus in Brasília , a position that represents the interests of Rio Grande do Sul parliamentarians in articulating priority agendas and engaging in dialogue with the federal government. His work is marked by his advocacy for agrarian reform, family farming, social justice, and public policies for rural areas and the most vulnerable communities.
In his legislative work, Marcon has presented and supported bills and amendments that seek to strengthen social rights and promote inclusion. Among his most recent proposals is Bill 4386/2025 , which establishes the National Day of Self-Love , celebrated on February 28th, with the aim of stimulating self-esteem and mental health among the population. He has also presented proposals such as Bill 2919/2025 , which amends legislation to benefit retirees and pensioners with IPI exemption when purchasing vehicles, in addition to proposing restrictions on the interruption of essential services such as energy, water, and gas during periods of crisis, seeking social protection in critical moments. Furthermore, Marcon allocates parliamentary amendments to works and services in municipalities in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, such as resources for hospitals and rural associations, reinforcing his work in favor of local development and the strengthening of family farming.
