Trajectory
Diego Leonardo de Andrade Carvalho was born on August 8, 1977 , in Belo Horizonte (MG). He holds a degree in Business Administration and also works as a retail entrepreneur and rural landowner. With strong family ties to the political sphere, he is the nephew of former senator Clésio Andrade.
Diego Andrade was first elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais in 2010, representing the then Republican Party (PR), and re-elected in subsequent elections under the PSD banner. Throughout his party career, he held internal leadership positions: he was vice-leader and leader of the PSD in the House of Representatives, and also majority leader from 2021 onwards.
In the National Congress, Diego Andrade has maintained an intense and strategic parliamentary activity. In 2025, he is reported to have authored 38 proposals and been the rapporteur for 9 projects . He has held the presidency of the Mines and Energy Commission since March 19, 2025, a relevant position for leading debates on energy regulation and mining. He also holds a position on external commissions that oversee dam ruptures and the renegotiation of their impacts, participates in the special commission on Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen Production, and is an alternate member of the Transportation and Communications Commission. Regarding political positions, Andrade voted in favor of the impeachment process of President Dilma Rousseff and supported the Spending Cap Amendment. Recently, he also signed a request for urgency for the amnesty project related to the acts of January 8, 2023, although he states that his party (PSD) has not yet reached a consensus on the matter.
