Trajectory
Charles Fernandes Silveira Santana was born on March 15, 1965 , in Guanambi (BA) . Son of Bráulio Santana Sobrinho and Edissa Fernandes Silveira Santana, he graduated in agricultural and accounting technical courses, and entered public life early, distinguishing himself as president of the Country Club of his city.
Charles began his political career as a city councilor in Guanambi in 2000 , being the most voted candidate in that election. During that term, he took a leave of absence to assume the position of municipal secretary of Infrastructure. He then served two terms as vice-mayor (2004–2012) and assumed the mayoralty in 2010 when the incumbent resigned to run for vice-governor. He was re-elected mayor in 2012 and served until the end of 2016.
In 2018, he ran for federal deputy and, although initially he was the first alternate, he assumed the seat during that term after the incumbent's candidacy was rejected. In 2022, he obtained a significant number of votes, around 99,815 — and again became the first alternate, being called upon to serve in the mandate on several occasions between 2023 and 2024.
In the House of Representatives, Charles Fernandes became an active member in matters of regional and national relevance. He was appointed head of the Special Committee on PEC 66/2023 , which deals with the extension of deadlines for the payment of social security debts by municipalities, a crucial issue for small municipalities in the Northeast.
In 2025, he presented 19 proposals and reported on 1 project , also playing a significant role in plenary votes. He publicly stated his position on important votes, such as his absence from the session that voted on the IOF decree, attributing his absence to personal and logistical reasons, and not to party directives.
Furthermore, he was awarded the title of Citizen of Urandi in 2022, a recognition from the municipality for his commitment to regional development.
