Aureo Ribeiro built his initial career in administration and union activism, especially linked to workers' organizations in the Baixada Fluminense region. He worked in union and party organization in an area marked by a strong presence of unions, professional associations, and municipal political disputes, which shaped his electoral base.
He entered elected politics as a state representative for Rio de Janeiro, serving in the Legislative Assembly (Alerj), where he gained prominence as a leader in the labor movement.
