Trajectory

Arthur de Oliveira Maia da Silva was born on August 17, 1964 , in Salvador, Bahia . He holds a law degree from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), a master's degree in Economic Law also from UFBA, and completed studies in Strategic Business Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His professional career began at the tax law firm of jurist Edvaldo Brito, continued with an advisory role in the Vice-Governor's office of Bahia, and practiced law in Guanambi, where he also served as a city councilor and eventually presided over the City Council.

Political career

Arthur Oliveira Maia began his public life as a city councilor in Guanambi (1989–1992). Subsequently, he was elected state deputy of Bahia for three consecutive terms (1995–2011). In 2010, he won a seat in the House of Representatives, being re-elected in 2014, 2018, and 2022, always representing Bahia. Throughout his career, he changed political parties until joining União Brasil, the party for which he currently holds office. In the House of Representatives, he established himself as a rapporteur for structural agendas, having gained national prominence as rapporteur for the Pension Reform (2017) and the Administrative Reform (PEC 32/2020). He was also vice-leader of the Michel Temer government (2016–2019) and vice-leader of União Brasil (from 2022 onwards).

Performance in the National Congress

In his role in Brasília, Arthur Oliveira Maia established himself as a central figure in constitutional analysis and structural legislation. He was the rapporteur for the Pension Reform , the Administrative Reform (PEC 32/20) , and laws such as the State-Owned Enterprises Responsibility Law and the Anti-Terrorism Law . In 2022, he was elected president of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee (CCJ) , an essential body for the legal processing of proposals in the House of Representatives. Furthermore, in 2023, he assumed the presidency of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry ( CPMI) of January 8th , tasked with investigating the invasions of the Three Branches of Government, an election resulting from consensus and significant political prestige. Today, Arthur serves as vice-leader of União Brasil, is a member of government support blocs, and his work is characterized by articulation between different sectors and affinity with the Centrão (center-right bloc).
