AJ Albuquerque

Antonio José Aguiar Albuquerque, known as AJ Albuquerque , was born on September 26, 1983 , in Fortaleza (CE) . He is a businessman and holds a law degree from the University of Fortaleza (Unifor), with a specialization in Public Management from the University of Lisbon, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Political Science, also at the University of Lisbon. He is the son of the influential state deputy and former president of the Legislative Assembly of Ceará, Zezinho Albuquerque.

Political career

AJ Albuquerque entered politics as mayor of Massapê (CE) , elected in 2012 and re-elected — serving from 2013 to 2016. He then served as Regional Secretary for the City of Fortaleza between 2017 and 2018.

He was first elected federal deputy in 2018 , taking office on February 1, 2019, and re-elected in 2022, serving his current term until 2027. Internally within the party, he holds a leadership position: he is the president of the PP in Ceará and was elected national vice-president of the Progressistas party in April 2019, a position he was re-elected in 2021.

Performance in the National Congress

In the House of Representatives, AJ Albuquerque has been active in strategic areas. In 2025, he authored 13 proposals and was the rapporteur for 3 projects , participating in 167 roll-call votes in the Plenary.

He holds prominent positions on important committees: he is a member of the Science, Technology and Innovation Committee (CCTI) and the Special Committee on the Limit of Court-Ordered Payments and Social Security Debts (PEC 066/23). He has also served as an alternate member on committees such as Education, Tourism, Urban Development, Health, and the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence.

In previous legislatures, he held leadership positions, such as 1st vice-president of the National Integration and Regional Development Commission (CINDRE) between 2019 and 2021, and was a member of the special commission for the Mandatory Budget Amendment (PEC 034/19), in addition to being a member of commissions on cryptocurrencies and court-ordered payments.
