Hamilton Mourão

Antônio Hamilton Martins Mourão, better known as Hamilton Mourão, is a Brazilian politician and general , currently affiliated with the Republicanos party. Mourão served as the 25th Vice President of Brazil , holding the office from January 1, 2019 to January 1, 2023, alongside President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) . Since 2023, Mourão has represented the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the Federal Senate. In the 2022 elections, Mourão continued his public life by being elected senator for Rio Grande do Sul, reinforcing his political influence and remaining active on the national stage.

Political Career

He began his political career when he joined the Brazilian Labor Renewal Party (PRTB) and entered politics, running for vice-president of the Republic on the ticket of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). In 2022, he was elected senator for the state of Rio Grande do Sul, continuing his life in public service.

Performance in the Federal Senate

The senator's main priorities include defending the environment, with a special focus on preserving the Amazon rainforest, promoting state efficiency, and combating corruption in Brazil. • Author of Bill 3190/2023 , which amends Law No. 13,636 of March 20, 2018, to improve and promote microcredit and microfinance.

• He was the rapporteur for Bill 3403/2023 , which prohibits the use of any means of payment in Brazil for transactions on websites that offer illegal gambling.

• He was the rapporteur for Bill 511/2023 , which amends Law No. 8,429 of June 2, 1992, to expand the list of acts of administrative misconduct that violate the principles of public administration.
