Trajectory
André Luís Gaspar Janones is a Brazilian lawyer and politician, born on May 5, 1984, in Ituiutaba (MG) . Before entering public life as a parliamentarian, he worked as a bus fare collector, then passed the OAB exam (Brazilian Bar Association exam) and opened his own law firm. He gained national prominence by becoming one of the leaders of the truckers' strike in 2018, a fact that boosted his election to Congress.
In his political career , Janones was elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais in 2018 by Avante , assuming his first term on February 1, 2019 , and being re-elected for the 2023-2027 legislature. In the House of Representatives, he was part of the Avante leadership as vice-leader of the party and of parliamentary blocs at various times throughout his federal career. In July 2025, his mandate was suspended for 90 days by the Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum Council , in the context of internal proceedings in the House.
In the National Congress , André Janones' legislative activity in 2025 includes 6 proposals of his authorship registered on the House of Representatives's website, without any assigned rapporteurs for the year. Among relevant projects he authored in previous legislatures or currently under consideration in Parliament are proposals aimed at including Constitutional Law as a subject in the school curriculum ; creating a program to encourage street running ; and Bill 126/2024 , which amends the Statute of the Elderly to create a mental health program for caregivers of elderly people, among other initiatives. Janones was also chosen as rapporteur for Bill 2099/2020 , which proposes a permanent allowance of R$ 1,200 for single mothers who are heads of household.
